Long Live Life: Week 3 Update
Heyo! Welcome back to the week 3 update. Hope you’re just as excited as me. Let’s get into it.
Heyo! Welcome back to the week 3 update. Hope you’re just as excited as me. Let’s get into it.
This past week has had its ups and downs, but overall I am happy with the progress I made on my goals, especially with composing. Like last week, I will focus on the general progress I made with each goal as opposed to going over every day meticulously. here we go!
If you don’t have time to read, please check out the composition:
My running goal
Unfortunately, we’re starting off with the goal I made the least progress with. I think that over the past two weeks, I’ve kind of been losing the motivation to run and that loss of motivation has shown up big time. I’ve missed many many runs in the past week; I think I only ran once or twice.
I had a talk with Vivek about the goal and I might reconsider it, but we’ll have to see. Outside of running, I am still consistently hitting the gym (I missed one day).
I don’t know, I just kind of hate running — the feeling of losing your breath and struggling to get it back while the air claws at your dry throat — and would much rather go to the gym to lift weights. But, for the next week, I plan to give it my all and run every day. After next week, I will reevaluate if I really want to continue down this path and still run a marathon at the end of the year.
My internship goal
This week was exciting for my internship goal. I received my 2nd interview, this time for Savvas Learning and because of that, I have been preparing every day this week.
My interview is taking place on Monday 2/13 and I am quite excited and nervous for it. It is my first non-phone interview and I haven’t done one of those in forever, so yay hopefully it goes well. My preparation has thus far consisted of spending 30 minutes every day researching and practicing responses to common behavioral interview questions as well as 1 leetcode problem a day. Outside of that, I have also been researching more on Savvas Learning and their company culture.
I’m excited! Will update you next week on how it goes.
My composition goal
I will keep this short and sweet because I want to save you time reading, so you can listen to this track I made. I’m especially proud of this one as it's only my third week seriously composing and I think it captures so many emotions.

or listen here:
Inspired by Nicholas Hooper’s “Dumbledore’s Farewell” from Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince.
While creating this track, I focused on the scene where Dumbledore dies as well as the Snape’s memories scene. Logic Pro-wise I wanted to work with fewer instruments this time, so I spent more time searching for specific cellos, violins, and pianos that fit the piece well. LABS by Spitfire Audio (not a sponsor!) has some awesome instruments that I love. Check them out if you haven’t already.
Since I am quite satisfied with this piece, next week I want to focus on film scoring more. So, I plan to score my first film scene just to see how it goes. I haven’t picked out a scene yet, but probably something from Harry Potter or a scene from another famous movie.
On a more negative note, sorry, and thanks to a few friends that graciously invited me to a composing/audio engineering event. I would have loved to gone, but that day in particular I did not feel well. I was genuinely quite excited to go.
Ok! That’s about it for this week. Here’s the link to the piece again that I made this week, “farewell”.
Have an awesome week and feel free to reach out with any comments or critiques!
