Heyo! Welcome back to my monthly updates. In seriousness though, I will most likely switch to monthly updates until the end of the year, just because I want to focus on school and music.
I’ve been quite busy (and much happier!) this semester, which is why my articles have become more and more sporadic. But, I will stay consistent and push out two more after this one to wrap up the year.
Anyhow, let’s get into some updates over the past month!
- Music -
My music journey has shifted quite a bit this semester. At the beginning of the semester, I really wanted to learn ukulele, so I invested a lot more of my time into practicing ukulele. Composing took a little break, but I would still do it every now and again.
As the months passed by, my focus shifted more to guitar. After watching my friends perform guitar at a talent show, it inspired me to pick up my dad’s guitar, which I had brought to college, and just start strumming.
Initially, I had an internal debate on whether I wanted to learn fingerstyle classical guitar first or more western style. I settled on western style with strumming because I also wanted to learn songs that I could sing and improve my voice with. So, currently I am about 2-3 weeks into learning Fix You by Coldplay. Hopefully, I will have a cover for you by the end of the year.
SPEAKING of singing, I started vocal lessons!! I found a local musician that teaches vocal lessons and he really is amazing! So far, we’ve had four lessons and have mostly been starting from the basics and fine tuning some warm up exercises. It’s super fun and I’m really excited to continue!
- CS + Music -
So, I applied to CS + Music this semester! Yesterday, I had my interview and I think it went well. Hopefully, I can get in. We’ll see.
- My Mental Health -
During 2022 and the start of 2023, I felt down all the time and a complete lack of energy. On my birthday (Feb. 22), I made a promise to myself and others that I wanted 2023 to be different. I wanted to look back on the year and say that I genuinely had a good time. A happy time.
So far, I think it has been a really good time. Over the summer, I had a blast making new friends at my internship as well as spending time with dingaladong and family.
This semester, I’ve spent a lot more time with my friends and gotten much closer and also met a lot more new friends!. I’ve gotten more confident in my own skin and am less afraid to voice my opinions. I’ve been working out consistently and losing weight consistently - I’m halfway to my goal of 160 pounds (currently at 168 from 178 at the start of semester).
So yea! It’s been a great year so far. Nothing romantic yet haha, but we’ll see what happens in that realm.
I’m just happy to say that I’m happy.
Thanks for reading and hope you too have a great rest of 2023!

You forgot one important update in the Music Realm (but it'll "be alright") :)
Keep at it, Ryzie!!
